About PIB

We started the plan to open a production brewery in beautiful San Diego, California in early 2013, and decided on March 2013, to open in East San Diego County. In September of 2013 we researched and choose the name Pacific Islander Beer Company and PIB Beer (Pacific Islander BEER). Finding a building that could have an island style outside patio proved to be difficult, but in June 2014 we found our location at 8665 Argent St., Suite B, in Santee. On July 1st, 2014 the building officially became Pacific Islander Beer Company. We have created an Island style landscape patio area, did a complete renovation inside, finished construction, and we officially open our doors on June 15th, 2015. We have a 10-barrel brew house with 20-barrel fermenters and plans to add 30 barrel fermenters. Stop in and see for yourself! Please join our Newsletter, like us on Facebook & follow our Twitter to get all our updates.
With the help of neighboring companies, all our partners, Facebook friends, family and just people walking in we have created a true Ohana (family) Brewery!
Our Tasting Room at Pacific Islander Beer Company is an Islander memory. Palms trees, Cool breeze, Cold Beers and a Vide that only comes from our Islander experience. Islander music playing on the radio. Food Trucks sharing their awesome creations. This is the place to share your special time with family, friends and love ones. We have a beautiful patio for drinking beers and enjoying special events like Free monthly Comedy Show. Live Hawaiian Music every Friday. We have 2 private event rooms that can be used for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, holidays, sporting events and company meetings. Need more info email us at info@pibbeer.com.
We are kid and dog (on a leash) friendly. You can bring food to the brewery anytime while enjoying our beers. We are open 7 days a week. Check us out on Facebook at Pacific Islander Beer Company. Join our newsletter for special and upcoming events. Mahalo nui loa from all the staff at PIB.

Head Brewer & Co-Founder

Ku'uipo Lawler

Born and raised in San Diego i graduated from Santana High School in 1994. I held various jobs in San Diego before deciding to pursue my passion for craft beer. Back in 2008, 2009 I decided I wanted to start home brewing. I was fortunate enough to know Lars Gilman a true brewmaster and owner of Breakwater brewpub as well Hydrobrew home brewing supply store. He taught me to home brew and I ran with it. In 2013 my uncle Kuuipo Lawler approached me about opening a brewery. I again turned to Lars and asked if he could train me on his commercial equipment. He took me under his wing and got going on my path to a professional Brewer. In 2014 Kuuipo and I started planning Pacific Islander Beer Co. After a year of searching for a building and securing investors, we opened PIB in June of 2015.
Ku'uipoaloha Lawler came from a loving Hawaiian Mother and great Irish Father. I am a hands on Co-Founder. What do I do? Day to day operations. Keeping PIB committed to making high-quality beers. Making sure we maintain the same principles that we started with in 2013 and always sharing the Islander Spirit.
How did it happen? Starting with my nephew Will Fox III Head Brewer Co-Founder. He schooled me in the art of what it takes to make great craft beers. There's is so much aloha in drinking and making PIB beers. Plus a long time friend and Co-Founder Bob Strangman that listened to my demands while helping me push the cart up the hill.
How did it start and what's my experience? Taking an idea and making no's turn into yes's. Knowing that hard work would lead me to live my dream. You learned it's not what you bring to the table in experience. Experience is great on paper but it's paper. What counts is what I am willing to learn every day. Customers are a great help in growing business. Just ask them for help and you will grow.
Much aloha to all our customers that take a moment out of their lives and share our vibe while drinking our islander spirit filled beers!
